Area A3 and Area A4 had their Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest  last Saturday, 13th of September 2014 in Menara Aqabah, Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang, Johor.

While UTM Toastmasters Club Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contests was held on 11th of September 2014, also in UTM Johor Bahru.

 

The President of UTM ACES Toastmasters Club,Yong Bang Xiang was the test speaker for the Evaluation Contest of UTM Toastmasters Club.

The best thing about contests season for me is... other than champions are made.. is the cooperation between clubs to help each other. It is sooooo swweeeeett....!!! People call it as Toastmaster-ship, I see it as friendship :)

 

For example, UTM ACES Toastmasters Club, JB Toastmasters Club, JB City Toastmasters Club, & Johor Jaya Toastmasters club members during UTM Toastmasters Club contests.

JB Can Talk - 6th Sept & 20th Sept 2014

During the JB Art Festival, Toastmasters in Division A has two sessions. The first session on 6th of September was held and I was so happy to be there!

 There were 4 interesting games. Other than Table Topics session like Toastmasters usually have during our clubs chapter meetings, we have 3 more games to add some more fun while speaking in public, in DATARAN BANDARAYA JOHOR BAHRU!

Making impromptu conversation. One sentence for each person. But, not a statement, it must be always a question! Challenging and fun!

The other team, acting as a Malay mother with an Indian son and a Chinese daughter. Here is part of the conversation by this team.

"Where is your father?"

"Why you don't know where is our father?"

"Do you have our father's picture?"

"What is picture?"

Hahahaha.....

Yeah, it was funny!

Ops..!! Now we know that during JB Can Talk, our photographer also went sightseeing...!!! He was attracted to a group of ladies in beautiful costumes! They were preparing for their dance performance. It is JB Art Festival! (http://jbartsfest.com)

Toastmasters International Convention 2014 was held in MALAYSIA!!!!!

For the first time in Toastmasters’ history, the organization held its International Convention outside North America. The 2014 convention took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 20th to 23rd of August 2014.

The main highlight of the convention, of course, the World Championship of Public Speaking 2014!

How big and prestige the stage was? See this.

The selection of this Southeast Asian city reflects the global nature of Toastmasters International as well as its evolving membership. More than 30 percent of all Toastmasters now live outside North America, and the greatest membership growth is in Southeast Asia.

“After considering many other sites, it became clear that Kuala Lumpur offered the most benefits to our members and the organization as a whole,” says Toastmasters International Executive Director Daniel Rex. “As a global organization, having as many people as possible attend the convention is always our goal.”

And.. the forth story... It is a double happiness for District 51 especially for double A1 Area Governor Genny Ong, CC, CL and Division A Governor DTM Debra Watter when they chartered 2 brand new clubs in District 51 on 1St August 2014.

These folks are on stage orchestrating a new form of Qigong exercise to strengthen their internal body mechanism, and they seemed to enjoy themselves as well as enticing all to do likewise. It worked and all present had a great time as their individual spirit was indeed uplifted spirally.

A Powerful Start of Term 2014-2015

Hye!!!

The new term 2014-2015 is started only 15 days ago, but some events already happened other than most of the Toastmasters Club had their first chapter meeting. We had a powerful start! 

1) Dr Sarjit Singh workshop on Authentic Personal Leadership on 6th July 2014

2) Two-hour training has been done for The Majestic Malacca TMC on 8th July 2014 (A new club, yeah!)

3) Demo meeting was held at Holiday Inn Melaka on 9th July and they will be setting up an in-house closed club by August. Yaaaahoooo...!!!

4) Kotra TMC are also submitting papers and will establish a club by this August. One more club for Division A! Yeah!

5) Kem Motivasi KARAMET 2014 (5-6 July 2014) (Persatuan Karate Melaka tengah), organized by Genny Ong, Area A1 Governor as her project for her High Performance Leadership.
