Message from Division A Governor
Dear Fellow Toastmasters of Division A,
Finishing Well: One Day at a time
Let us start today as we take office on 1st July 2009 to serve our members andour Clubs for the term 2009/2010.
To start leading, we must always start with ourselves.
We can start learning to be a better motivator, to sharpen our ability to cast a vision and to identify our core values. People who achieve great things must possess both the ability to begin and to be able to finish well.
Some qualities of a true leader who starts well and ensure a good finish are:-
Commitment
Those who lead effectively give it their all. There is no room for true leaders to give 50% but 150% in whatever they do. Only complete commitment leads to success.
Courage
When the challenge is great and even overwhelming, true leaders courageously rise to the occasion. It is courage more than talent that achieves victories.
Perseverance
It is the ability to continue on in spite of roadblocks or obstacles. True leaders have the will power to keep doing a job until it gets done.
Team spirit
Leaders need team players. True leaders recognize them. The leader may get the recognition, but the success lies on the spirit and work of the team players.
The core values of Toastmasters International are Integrity, Respect for the Individuals, Dedication to excellence and Service to members. Let us consistently incorporate these values as anchor points in our planning and vision for our Clubs and in every decision we make.
The theme for Division A is “Let’s shape our future together.”
Our vision as Toastmasters is to empower people to achieve their potential and realize their dreams and find the courage to change. We can help shape the lives of others when we first shape ourselves. Be our best, Go for greatness and Give our best to serve our members and our Clubs.
As fellow members of Division A, let us shape our future together and let us work together to bring Division A to greater heights in District 51.
The great revolutionary leader M.K. Gandhi once said: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” How do we do that? The answer is simple. Start with yourself.
